Which no-frills buses operate in the UK?

The following bus companies provide budget transport around the United Kingdom. Click on the name of each bus company for full details on which towns and cities that company serves.

CityLink Scottish Low Cost Bus Service

Scottish express coach operator, CityLink, has responded to the challenge from megabus with its own intercity low cost bus fares. Scottish CityLink now offers Super Singles for as cheap as £3 from Edinburgh to Inverness, £2 from Glasgow to Perth, and just £1 between Glasgow and Edinburgh.   [ Route Map ]

easyBus English Low Cost Bus Service

The first true rival to megabus Stelios' low cost transporter, easyBus, is now operating a £1 service between central London and Luton airport. The company also has plans to extend its network northwards along the M1 corridor. There is no luggage space, so if you're travelling with a large bag, you'll have to book an extra seat.   [ Route Map ]

NX FunFare UK Low Cost Bus Service

The National Express FunFare tariff was launched just a few months before Stagecoach's megabus service (see below) got off the ground. The cheapest FunFare tickets cost as little as £1 on all intercity routes - including Glasgow to London - and there is no booking fee. Travel from Manchester to Liverpool, Leeds and Birmingham and from the capital to all destinations.   [ Route Map ]

megabus UK Low Cost Bus Service

Inspired by the new wave of no-frills airines, megabus provides UK intercity transport for as cheap as £1 with an additional compulsory booking fee of 50p. The new routes from Scotland to London take all night, but at a price like this, a night sleeping on the coach doesn't seem so bad after all.   [ Route Map ]
