Britons are taking trips abroad more frequently. A top concern
is how to save both money and time on travel insurance.
We examine the advantages of a policy which lasts 52 weeks...
Annual travel insurance is becoming more popular amongst Britons, a survey by Datamonitor shows. With the recent environmental concerns about climate change, it is surprising to see that more flights are being taken by Britons than at any other time.
Indeed, this trend for increased travel has seen an overall growth in the travel insurance market of 1.4%. The report's author Andrew Haslip commented: "The UK travel insurance market continues to benefit from the desire of the British public to travel abroad."
Amongst the reasons suggested for this apparent increase in foreign travel has been that more of us are visiting friends and family abroad and that, quite simply, for many of us one holiday a year just isn't enough.
Research conducted prior to the Datamonitor survey showed that many of us will take more than one holiday a year and 11% of us will take an incredible five or more breaks in a year. Considering we are becoming a country full of jetsetters it is unsurprising that annual travel insurance is becoming popular.
The majority of annual travel insurance deals will cover you for an unlimited number of trips. It may also prove to be a better choice if you only plan to take two trips in a year as the policy may still work out cheaper than two single trip policies. The advantages of annual cover go beyond the merely financial however convenience is a big factor - get one policy for the whole year and its one less thing to think about every time you leave the country.
See below for an idea of how much it will cost for a policy from some of the leading brokers. Prior to signing up to any policy you should check that the price and cover are suitable for your need. The table below is only provided as an example of prices.
