There are countless independent travel-related resources, tools, guides and references available on the web from interactive maps and dictionaries and timetables to work and volunteer programmes and free accommodation networks to news sources updated live in print, on the radio and on television. attitude Travel Features provides editorial features, directories which highlight the enormous array of resources available at no cost to independent travellers on a budget.
It's nearly a year since Scottish bus company Stagecoach launched its low cost bus service, megabus, and went head to head against National Express Funfare. Suddenly, with relatively little fanfare, tens of towns and cities across Scotland, England and Wales were connected for just £1 on NX Funfare or for £1.50 on megabus. And a twelve hour journey from Inverness to London for £1.50 is not to be sniffed at.
Back in August, Stelios Haji-Ioannou unveiled his response, though the growth of the predictably named easyBus throughout the Autumn has been a little lacklustre and it still only has two routes in operation. Fortunately, the easyJet of the road is planning to introduce several more routes to connect towns along the M1 corridor, though there is no mention of when... perhaps 2005 will see easyBus emerge as a real competitor to the two no-frills bus giants?
