Forty minutes walk along the beach south of Essaouira, the ruins of the Bordj el Berod, an old Moroccan fort, lean into the sea. The fort allegedly inspired Jimi Hendrix to write Castles made of Sand after he visited Essaouira in the late 1960's. On a fine winter evening, you can watch from the fort as the sun sets over the Atlantic.
